CDW LLC recently released its Server Virtualization Life Cycle Report. The said document examined the maturity of the server virtualization market for medium-scale businesses and larger corporations. The technology provider also covered the results of implementing virtualization on managed hosting and the barriers that are hindering large scale migration in its report.
The said report is based on the company’s market analysis as well as the results of a survey of 387 IT executives in organizations composed of more than 100 employees. The results reveal that over half of IT managers say that they have already completed deployment. Some of the more common roadblocks include security concerns and compatibility concerns with current hardware as well as of critical software applications with virtualization platforms.
But the report also saw that virtualization is developing favorably as more than 90 percent of the businesses surveyed are already implementing it, albeit at varied levels. However, those who have fully deployed virtualization still say that only 37 percent of their server infrastructure is virtualized.
Sever virtualization is considered an important data center development in the previous decades. Organizations have started adopting it enthusiastically due to the benefits it presents as far as IT productivity, costs, resilience and business agility are concerned. According to Scott Severson, director of CDW’s server and storage solutions department, their studies findings are consistent with their client experiences. Many adopters have captured the low-hanging fruits of virtualization and are slowly warming up to the technology.

According to statistics, the merged entity will own over 50% of the broadcast spectrum in addition to a market share of around 37%. If fact, the expected broadcast spectrum is estimated to be over 170MHz, which is in sharp contrast with 3’s 15MHz and Vodafone’s 76MHz (click for a broadband comparison).

This may look like taking a bargaining position in the whole deal, but the final allocation of the 900MHz spectrum is yet to be seen.
