Halloween Themes for a Festivity to Remember
Numerous Halloween celebration ideas are overstated and have become a bit trite. Party hosts who want to shake things up should think outside the box and draw on pop culture phenomenons that some people are familiar with but haven’t yet become boring. In that vein, may we advise recreating the schism between science and the Vatican for a night by throwing your own Angels and Demons themed Halloween fete. Incorporate some of the movie’s symbols with religious-themed red, black and white decor, snacks and drinks, and entertain invitees with an Angels and Demons themed murder mystery game.
Since the center of this Halloween celebration is on great food and wine, the decor needn’t be elaborate or pricey. Improvising with a couple of items you already own around the home should do the trick: Drape white sheets over tables and sofas to make an aerial background fit for the gods. Top tables in white tablecloths as well, and belt the fabric to mimic the draping on a toga. If you already own ivy plants, group them in the party area as table centerpieces. Colored ivy is really affordable and can be coiled around food platters, between wine bottles to dress the wine tasting table, and can cascade down a fence. Complete the Dionysus celebration atmosphere with ancient-inspired halloween treats such as stuffed grape leaves. The simple glow of all the embellishments will look handsome against all the white decor and is perfectly suited to the festivity.
The All Souls’ Day begging and cake feeding, along with the custom of providing food on one’s doorstep to assuage spirits, evolved into trick-or-treating. Halloween went modern throughout the 19th century, as colonial Americans made it a holiday about assembling to enjoy celebration, treats and fun costumes. By the dawn of the 20th century, Halloween was hardly about religious belief anymore and was widely famous as a strictly lay holiday.
