The Room and the HDTV User Determines Its Configuration
Defining what makes for a good choice in small bedroom HDTV’s has a lot more to do about the relative size of that bedroom and the person or people that will be using the television. While a 55″ widescreen HDTV is probably not the best choice, the choice of set here doesn’t have to be tiny by comparison. So anything from 7″ up to 40″ might qualify for this room.
First, you should determine what use the set will be asked to perform. If it is just for television viewing, then you should not consider models that have additional inputs and modes such as a gaming mode. If a PC is to be connected for part-time use, then the HDTV could replace the monitor and save some space.
If it is to be used primarily to watch television from the bed, then a wall mount might make good sense with a DVD as part of a combo unit or as a separate add-on or even a Blu-ray disc player. It is a good idea to mount the screen at eye level for optimum viewing angle.
Cost should be considered if it is a secondary unit within the house or is part of a teenager’s entertainment package. The main consideration for small bedroom HDTV’s in this area is that they may not get a lot of use in the first case or get outdated quickly in the second case due to the fast changes that take place in the electronics world today.
A combination DVD/LCD HDTV may be the perfect choice for a younger child’s bedroom where some can be mounted under a cabinet and folded away when not in use and where a smaller screen can make for very personal viewing.
No matter what is chosen, there will be a need for either an antenna or separate cable and converter box for this set. If the television will see more limited use then an antenna might be a good option for this unit.
